The largest and most historically significant drying attic for Picolit in the Colli Orientali del Friuli at Rocca Bernarda.

  1. what is a drying attic and why is this one historically significant?

  2. Foo, good questions!

    I was posting in a hurry yesterday…

In the 20th century when the Perusini family owned and managed the estate at the Rocca Bernarda castle, it became a pioneer in developing drying techniques for Picolit grapes. (The classic expression of Picolit is a dried-grape, sweet wine.)

The fact that the drying room remains the largest and is still used to this day is testament to the Perusini legacy as the “fathers” of modern Picolit (one of the world’s most coveted wines).
